At just one day old, newborn kittens are so small they will literally fit in the entire palm of your hand.
They can’t do much but sleep and nurse from their mothers, but they can smell which helps them in nursing.
After they are a week old, they double in weight and their eyes will just barely begin to open.
At a month in age, they’re sitting up and showing signs of playing with their siblings.
Around two months of age, a kitten will stop nursing altogether and start eating real food.
3 months old they will begin losing their baby teeth (like human children do, too) and the new adult teeth will begin to grow in their place.
6 months old they can get around on their own without needing their mother cat.
And at exactly the 1 year old mark, your kitten becomes a “cat” with the life expectancy around 14 years though some have lived much, much longer and on up and above 20 years!
