06 JulSpay or Nueter… is it a Must?

Kittens are adorable and everyone wants one, but do you want many from your current cat? Spaying and nuetering is for those people who DO NOT want their animal(s) to get pregnant and have babies. Most people do it on a moral basis because of all the animals available for adoption and not enough homes to supply them with. There are also tons of breeders that have a supply of kittens readily available for purchase from people not wanting to get them from a pound of some sort. Aside from that, pet shops seem to also have an endless supply of cats and dogs and many are now not selling any and only having “adoption days” where they have the local pound bring their animals to their shops and advertise the need of homes for those animals instead.

It’s an attempt to get the population down a little and more under control so not so many pets go without homes.

However, regardless of any of that, it is still up to the person. No one can make you spay/neuter and if you know what you are doing then you have the ability to have babies. Also, a lot of people can’t afford the vet fees for such a procedure.

I had a friend in elementary school who had a dog she couldn’t afford to spay and it ended up getting pregnant from another neighborhood dog. When the puppies were born, she ate them all. The dog didn’t know how to be a parent and its environment wasn’t appropriate for it. I’m sure many other things factored into it but it came down to… the people not being educated enough to help the dog handle the pregnacy and thereafter. So if you’re inexperienced, it’s best to spay and not have any worries or concerns that you can’t handle.
