Lactose Intolerant Cats

Milk itself is NOT “toxic” to cats, but most cats ARE lactose intolerant. And I never really understood the whole lactose thing until I became good friends with my neighbors who are both lactose intolerant. Getting to know what they can and can’t have has helped me right along know what my cat should and shouldn’t have too.

Milk can be super hard for cats to digest and can result in making your cat so sick it ends up puking.

Not to mention, your cat should be on a healthy cat diet specifically made for cats and not need whatever the milk provides. The diet alone should provide everything your pet cat needs.

A good tip to remember is the more fat in the milk, the less lactose. If you have to give your cat milk for whatever reason, cream is best. You can also look into CatSip which is made from skim milk with enzymes added that help your cat digest the lactose. You can find it at any major petstore chain or grocery store.
