It’s underestimated by many people (especially children) just how sensitive the whiskers of a cat are. They aren’t like the hair that grows on the rest of their body (although the whiskers can be found in more places than just the face) as they are a lot thicker and much more sensitive to their environment. The whiskers actually go deep into the cat’s face where nerves and blood vessels are. This is why you should never cut or try to trim whiskers. They are meant to be the lengths they are, and will fall out and regrow back in on their own.
